Dask's Belated Birthday
Tuesday, August 22, 2006
Yes, I missed it, but Sunday was Dask's 2nd Birthday. He's growing up fast!! We had a party Saturday night to celebrate and that back to school started today. First day of grad school was today. Exciting. Except that I went to the scheduled class time and it turns out that it is an online class, I felt smart! Oh well, now I am on track with that class and there are two to go before I'm fully into grad school.
What a day!

We had a day today! Dina figured out that if she takes 14 more hours, not of anything particular but random stuff, she will get 2 degrees. So in finding classes, Wine tasting came up. Why don't we both take it? It's an one hour class on only two Saturdays. So we went to enroll. Little did we know this would mean walking all over campus in 200 degree heat!!! Dina first went to LSE to enroll in a basic computer course and then off to HES for the wine class. There is was discovered that for that class you have to enroll through Sectioning in the Union. That would also put her over the maximum 19 hours, and she would need an excessive hours petition signed by her advisor and dean in the education department, which is in Willard! Well after that was done, over to the Union we go. She then got enrolled no problem. I however had an advisor hold?!?! I really didn't have an advisor at the time, and they didn't have a clue. So we trekked over to MS and talk with my old advisor. He got me cleared, but then I needed to go back over to Sectioning! On the way we stopped at Whitehurst for the Graduate College to check on my status. I told the lady that I needed to check my status and she pulled it up and then said, oh I can't tell you. What?!!? You can't tell me if I'm in or not? Yes, all I can tell you is that there was a letter sent out to today to your address and an email should have been sent out today too. Dina asked if she could tell if it was a good letter or a bad letter? She couldn't tell us that either! I was then worried because all the lady said was I can tell you the letter was sent out and good luck. What the hell lady!! Alright we go back to the Union and Dina gets all her books and I get into Wine class. I have been checking my email all day and still nothing. in the meantime I'm putting that Wine class in my Mortar Board and look on SIS. On SIS my student status showed (here's the whole point!!!) Graduate Student! That's right I'm in!!! Well at least online, now I just wish they would send that email or I would get the letter tomorrow just for extra reassurance. Now, I'm in two classes and I need one more. Community Relations in Emergency Management and Political Psychology. They're both one night a week classes on Monday and Tuesday. I'm wondering if I should also take Stat, since I didn't in Undergrad and it's required, or take some Independent Study with a prof? I guess I have two days to decide. Which my old advisor called me out on! He asked if we knew if that wine class was open and Dina said yes even though it's cutting it close and he said that she should know by know that I don't do anything early. Even though it maybe true, well okay, it's true and he just called me out. Back to work tomorrow, I'm just glad I got that taken care of now.
