It was too great to be there at the ending of the best OSU season!! Go Pokes!! Kendra and I headed to the desert Sunday night. After nearly winning tickets on Friday and then not getting them within a couple hours, Kendra decided to go ahead and find a sweet deal on some tickets. Driving all night we made it into Scottsdale, Arizona, around 9 am to pick up the tickets. After resting up in the afternoon we headed to the stadium. Our seats were great and the game was better. I don't think we sat down even for halftime. I can barely talk and still have a headache from yelling so much. Jumping around and cheering for the game was amazing. I'm still on a high from the win even after driving back starting out at about 9 am. Too much fun and I hope we can do it again sometime. Go Cowboys!!!!!

At work on Thursday took a trip over to Target next door. Wandering around, I asked the electronics guy of they had a phone buy back program like I had seen online. He let me about the sweet deal they had going. They bought my old iPhone 3G back for $100 on a gift card and then had the iPhone 4 on sale for $75 with upgrade. So I upgraded to the 4 and still had $25 left on the gift card. It was a good deal, basically got a free case. The salesman was really good and even gave me a red card discount. It was my lucky day. The next day during my haircut, I was told I was going bald and they tried to sell me a rogain type shampoo. Not my lucky day. Later,

To the OSU family,

It is with the deepest of sorrow that I inform you that the Oklahoma State University family lost two members last night when women's basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant women's basketball coach Miranda Serna were killed in a plane crash in Perry County, Arkansas.

Coach Budke and Coach Serna were on a recruiting trip. The pilot and a fourth person, who were not affiliated with OSU, also were killed. There were no survivors.

Kurt was an exemplary leader and a man of character who had a profound impact on his student-athletes. He was an outstanding coach and a wonderful person. We send our deepest sympathies to his wife, Shelley, and their children, Sara, Alex and Brett.

Miranda was an up-and-coming coach and a great recruiter. She was an outstanding role model for our young ladies.

I ask that you join me in extending your thoughts and prayers to the families of these two wonderful individuals.

So, add another one to our list of things that shouldn't be. Kendra and I should really run things. We can get things straightened out! List item for today of things that shouldn't be: Daylight Savings Time. It gets dark way too early, there's no need for the time change and it messes with my sleep! Why is it dark before 7, because everyone set their clocks back an hour, that's why. It gets dark way too early in the evenings, I get tired and I don't feel like doing anything. Annoying. Do we still need this time change for farming? Isn't that why we decided to mess with the clocks? The number of people farming has dropped and it's increasingly mechanical which doesn't care what time of the day it's light outside. Just saying. So, they say we got an extra hour of sleep with the fall back hour time change, well I don't agree. My internal clock is still set on the same time, so I was just up earlier and tired later. Now, I need to adjust to get up and then not do anything in the evenings because it's dark. Whine, whine, whine, I'm pretty good at it. Let's see what else we can add this BIG Book of Don'ts, I know we have a lot on our list. Later,

Ten years later.

We'll always remember. It's one of those moments that define a part of you. Past moments, the where were yous, this is one I will never forget. For me, today has been a day to reflect and be thankful. I remember where I was ten years ago. I was the high school library aide, watching it all unfold on the tv in library office. I remember later that day driving with the news on the radio and how quiet everything else seemed to be. Watching tv all night brought back memories of a tragedy closer to home, 04.19.95. It is still hard to believe that such hatred and evil can exist in people to destroy the lives of so many. All of the whys will not be known, but we still have to move forward. Move to make the world a better place. Move to make the world a safer place. Move to make the world a more accepting place. Move to make the world have less hate. Move to make the world more knowledgeable. Move to make the world go forward. I am thankful for the country I live in. Thankful that we have the rights to be able to move and make the world better. Thankful for the everyday heroes, not only those in uniform, but the unsung. Thankful we have the opportunity to all be a part of the process to move and make a better world. I hope that we can choose not to only reflect and be thankful on anniversaries, but on more days to help make them better. Move forward and make them better. Prayers and thoughts are with all. Let's see, what have I been doing? It's been a couple weeks since the lake, and at least one more weekend until I get back. I think I am going through withdrawals. Last weekend was a party for my Grandparent's 50th Anniversary. It was good to see a lot of people. Had dinner at Kendra's mom's. Got a lot of friend time in with Kendra and Jeremy. There was a good 5-6 days were we saw each other every day and did something. Checked out the new outlet mall, it's nice to see something new like that in OKC and close to the house. I wish it would cool down soon. We tried tennis one night, but it was way too hot and stinking from stagnant water around the courts. I think it might be cooling down next week, at least that's what the news says. I'm ready to get back to some discing and other outdoor fun. I have been slacking hardcore on the weight loss and diet. After the competition at work ended, I quit doing as much outside and haven't been in Zumba since. I have put back on about 9 pounds. When fall comes, I'm back after it! Dask and Pete celebrated birthdays in August. Dask turned 7 and Pete is now 3. It's hard to believe all the changes that have happened since I got Dask, and it seems like yesterday. Lake sick and 10 years ago

Another great weekend at the lake. Saturday Kendra and I tubed. I only went a couple times and now I remember why. I have fun while I'm doing it, but now my neck hurts. And the front of my neck, not a usual place to be sore but I am! After getting back to the beach from the tube I was sick! It made my stomach all crazy and my head hurt. But still a great time! I will now remind myself when I feel the need to tube again. I think I should get some pictures from the lake, I'm there a lot but I don't like taking electronics around the water, I don't have the best luck. Trevor was down this weekend though and he was a tubing and skiing machine! It was his 10th birthday Saturday, so we had a cake and stuff for him at dinner. He even looked like he was getting pretty good at skiing, he gave us a wave as he was going by the beach.
Also on the drive back, Kendra reminded me how at this time 10 years ago we were starting our senior year of high school. Which then led into starting our reunion Facebook page and trying to get something together for the JHS Homecoming football game. Crazy to think all that has happened in 10 years and yet at times it seems like just yesterday. Later,

After missing the deadline for our Amazing Race application in January, I haven't checked back in to see when the next deadline was. I did check last night and the deadline was JULY 18!!! We missed it again! They even made it available to submit your application online! So, our next goal is to make our application visor that much better, and check CBS casting website at least once a month! Go team Kenad! We really should be on the show.

Also, after watching Big Brother again, I think I could do that show too. There is not a deadline for their application. But, I really think Kendra and I should be on the Amazing Race! Free trip and win some money? I think so! So let's hope we catch the next deadline! Later,

Review: Uncle Tom's Cabin

"This book will definitely make you think. It is slow reading at first as it lays out every scene in detail. Although reading the book with the time period in mind can help you relate that detail was appreciated. Also keeping in mind that originally the book was written and released in installments in papers. This can be evident in some retellings of events.
The characters were varied and vast. The story moves to introduce many side plots and characters that can be hard to keep up with. My favorite character in the book was little Eva of the St Claire family in Louisiana. As a little child she was able to explain the ills of slavery in simple and straight forward terms. She had a warm and caring way that gave me a hope. The books seems to end abruptly. The last few chapters tie up all the side stories and characters in a way that left me wanting to know more. Illustrated by the authors letter of sorts to the nation in the last chapter of the book, the social importance of the work is more important that the book itself. It was a little heavy and I'll keep my next few books lighter reading."

I need a new lawn

I braved the heat and mowed my yard last night. After the couple of little showers that came through it desperately needed it. I even mowed the neighbor's yard. Kind of by accident. While I was mowing in between our houses I went a little too far and decided to just finish the rest of their yard. It wasn't the neighbor who had previously mowed my yard earlier this summer, so maybe I still owe them one. Even after finishing my yard it still looks terrible. I was just blowing dirt around in some spots. I wish it would just take care of itself. I wouldn't mind the mowing if it turned out nice. But I guess all that takes is time and I probably won't do that. So it'll remain the same brown, dirt and a few weeds. At least my dogs don't mind! Later,

Happy Birthday And Strange Addictions

Another great weekend at the lake! It was Sherry's birthday weekend, so happy belated birthday. The weekends are always too short. I was not in work mode this morning for sure.

When I got home last night I found a new show on tv. My Strange Addiction on TLC. Last night was an episode on a person who lived as a baby and a lady who chewed dryer sheets. Kendra and I were texting back and forth about how odd people can be. I am now convinced that TLC is on a mission to showcase the most insane people. People with 20 kids, people with multiple wives, people who hoard, people who are addicted and the list goes on and on. It will make you wonder what some people you know do behind closed doors.

Well, I thought I had my GoodReads account set up to post here when I wrote a review. Maybe, I'm not giving it enough time either, but I'm impatient. So, I'll copy and paste. Thanks Kendra for letting me borrow your book, it was a good read!

It really grabbed my attention and made me care about the characters. I liked how the book changed points of view, it was effective to move the story along by using the different views to show the contrasts. I wish a couple of the characters were explored a little more, to see more of their struggles. I laughed aloud a couple times, and other times I couldn't stop reading because it was intense. The Footes were intriguing to me. She didn't seem to fit the mold, and yet she wanted to so badly. Hilly did come off a little typical of the villain. Elizabeth could have been explored a little more I felt. Especially, her relationship with her mother and how that shaped her. Aibileen was someone you really cared about, getting to know her history and intimate feelings. Minny was the character that made me laugh, but at the same time she was real pointing out the injustices of the time. Skeeter was balanced, she had her moments and it would be interesting to see where her story went after her move. It will be interesting to see how the movie will address some of the more serious situations in the book.

I saw a commercial last night making fun of the old riddle, which came first? And I had written a post in this new posting app I downloaded and of course, the app had to crash and delete the post. Not that it really matters, as I'm sure the world will now end that my views on which came first are not in writing. It was just frustrating to have the app crash even multiple times. It's a good thing it was a free app! How many times can I say app, app, app app?
Also frustrating, having to park so far away from the building at work! When I got to work this morning, the line was already wrapped around the building and not a spot was to be seen except for at Target. It's a good thing I didn't choose Popeyes to park at, since they were being nice enough to relocate your vehicle with a tow truck. It was a good couple minutes of people watching to see what was going on in line and how people drive today. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a car going the wrong way in our obviously one-way parking lot. I mean really, all the parking spots are angled, and you have to know for sure when all the other cars are headed right at you!

Children's book

With the GoodReads.com there a lot of free ebooks to download. Mostly the classics, but I figure I should read the classics at least once. This weekend I downloaded the 1st Wizard of Oz book. Since everyone knows the movie, I thought it would one of those to see what's the difference from the movie to the book. Although I'm not that far along in the book, in the next chapter they meet the lion, I can tell a lot is different. I knew the book was meant to be a children's book, but I didn't know how much the movie had embellished on the book. It really reads as a children's book with little "fluff". Although you do get to learn about the main characters more, the secondary characters and places aren't as detailed. I would have thought from the movie, even in a children's book, munchkin land would have been spelled out in detail. Instead, she lands, kills the evil witch, meets the good witch (not of the North) and hits the road. Oh yeah, and the shoes are silver. I had known that difference from high school history class. After reading the book, or maybe a couple in the series, I'd like to read something on the supposed parallels of the authors political views. Allegedly, each character represents a part of America and the book was intended to advance the populist political movement of the time. So, I'll charge my battery and read some more. Later,

New theme?

I'm back to writing. Well, for right now at least. I think maybe my new theme should be, "it's been a long time since I posted". I just lost the blogging urge, or possibly my life got less interesting? I mean, I do things, just nothing that I guess people would be interested in.

So, let's see. My new addition, Pete!

He has been great! I adopted him on April 21st this year, and he's been crazy ever since. He really is a good dog, and he likes to let you know he's still around by barking! Dask is getting along with him, as long as Pete doesn't get too close when he's sleeping!

The new position at work is still going great. I enjoy training, and it's always something new! Never a dull moment, thast's for sure!

I've also decided, and this is a more recent development, to start reading for enjoyment more. I have had Uncle Tom's Cabin for awhile and never got past the 3rd chapter. I picked it up again recently, and it has been a good read. One of my friends has been on www.goodreads.com for some time and it has gotten me motivated to read more often. So, look out for some of those updates, and friend me on GoodReads too. Chadlattin, of course.

If anything more suitable for publishing comes along, you can find it here. Probably not a crazy lake weekend story, but those happen quite a lot and might find their way on here. Who knows.

Well, today was wasted and I liked it! Old man winter brought in the snowpocalpyse over night and the office was closed for the day. Instead of using the day to get stuff done around the house, I spent it doing a whole of nothing. It was nice. Tomorrow, the office is close/reduced staff (either way, I'm don't have to go in) and I've got the idea to be productive. Ha! I'll probably be holding this couch down again watching dumb tv.

Happy Birthday Ken Hill! 27, whew! So close to the dirty thirties! I only have 10 days to rub this in, oldie. What a way to remember your birthday, setting records. Too bad they were snow fall and low temps. I can't wait to celebrate this weekend! Happy Birthday!!

Got back today and finally got that hot tub out to mom and dad's. It'll be nice when that's hooked up and running. What also needs to be running is my lawn mower. The yard is out of control.

Just another night

Any plans I had for the evening all went out the window for one reason or another. So, I thought I should mow the yard that's out of control. That didn't happen either because my lawn mower decided to break. Nice. I did get some material and put it on one of the patio chairs that came with the house and was broken. I finally did get that done, but it would be better if it was sewn. I'll have to take it and have someone do that. That's where my skills stop at sewing.

Hopefully tomorrow night will work out better. My busy week that was planned hasn't been busy at all.

Primary Night

As a poli sci major in college, I am a nerd when it comes to politics. I voted today and I hope everyone did! While I've gotten my fill of OETA tonight, it was good to see the balance of coverage and the candidates talking about the races.
I am still confused as to why it takes so long for votes to come in from the precincts. Oklahoma's electronic style voting system should leave the tally very easy to obtain. Why can state wide races all voted on the same ballot have different amount of precincts reported? If I vote on the same ballot for all offices in my precinct, shouldn't they be electronically tallied at the same time? Just an observation that I've never found a good answer. I'm sure there is some mathematical formula and check and balance procedures in place, but just report the votes!
Now that the primaries are over with a few exceptions of run offs, the real campaigns begin. It should be an interesting election.

What a day

Well, I started last night trying to update my iPhone to the new operating system software and it was taking so long I let it go over night. When I woke up, my phone wasn't done and it wouldn't do anything!! Stuck on some updating screen nonstop. I went into work and the computers were finally working but anything done last Thursday will still have to wait, the powers that be are still trying to recover that stuff and I hope they do. I got all caught up again except for those "Thursday" cases. I then went to the Apple store to have them fix my phone where I got to wait for over an hour since I was just a walk in. Great. They had it working when I left. I had lost everything though. But when I went to restore the phone so I could get the data back as the people told me to do, it broke again! Well, I managed to fix it all by myself when I got home and get all my stuff back on the phone too! Now, let's hope I'm in a better mood tomorrow for work. Today was just not a good day for me even without the phone issues. Not that anyone really cared or wanted to know about my issues today but that's why the blog is Chad's Crap. Later,

Another great day. Visited a couple bourbon distillaries, Makers Mark, Heavan Hill and Jim Beam. Taste tested at all. Mom dipped her own bottle of Makers Mark and Grandpa got a nap in at Jim Beam. Then we eneded the day at the casino in Indiana. Really good seafood buffett. We've got our bets all placed and hats ready for the Derby tommorrow. They're predicting a wash out, one of the wettest Derby's ever. So, we'll be having a party and a good time and not worrying about the weather. Later,

We had a good trip up last night. After driving all night we weren't really up for much today. But we went around town and saw some of the sights like My Old Kentucky Home State Park in the picture above. Ate, napped and didn't make it to the burbon festival. But, we're planning on visiting a few distillaries tomorrow and driving by Fort Knox. And, as I type, I can hear the practice rounds being fired off. The Oaks is tomorrow and it looks like a rain out for the Derby. Well, a rain out for us, the horses will still run. I'll need to check up on the field and get my bet in tomorrow morning. Later,

Cut my pinky finger on a piece of glass. After it stopped bleeding profusely, I got a bandaid on it and had to go get more. I should be alright now and I'll survive no worries.
Had a great time at the Arts Festival last night. With the prices on those pieces, there shouldn't be any starving artists in OKC. Geez, I should be more artistic and produce some high dollar art.
Watching the Thunder put it to the Lakers right now. It would be great to beat LA and on to round 2 of the playoffs. Thunder Up!
Still looking forward to our Kentucky trip coming up next week. It's gonna be a good time for all.

Meeting time

Went to a meeting tonight with Melanie about the furloughs. A sentor from the Kingfisher area was there to answer questions. A nice turnout of people, in a townhall style meeting. A lot of good questions were asked, but as expected the answers were so so normal politician answers. I felt like we were barking up the wrong tree. The legislators don't care how each agency uses the funds, they just care that they are meeting the allocated monies they set aside. The people we need to be asking the tough questions to are our own leadership. The legislature has it's own issues that need fixed, and I'm still skeptical of our states budget woes, but as we were told, there's only about 5 weeks left in session and they can't do much. So much for being the servants of the people and doing the people's work. Instead of making the serious decisions about how money is wasted throughout agencies, they'll take any money saving answer they can get. So, we're still hiring and wasting and waiting to be furloughed. Thanks for leading by example. I think this will be an intersting poltical season for me. As they say, all politics are local. Well, you can't get more local to me than my wallet.

Massive teacher layoffs likely with budget cuts

Sorry to hear about this for all my teacher friends who already put in so much in over crowded classrooms. Already restricted by bureaucratic rules and processes, now they will be expected to maintain the same level with less staff.

I am really disappointed in our state legislature for cutting the needs of the public when times are bad. Time to think outside of the box and step up as leaders. Times are tough and tough decisions need to be made with smart level headed fresh ideas.

Again, make sure to send in your census so the appropraite funding can be allocated. It seems to be working so far.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Education officials predict massive teacher layoffs and larger class sizes next school year if lawmakers slash the common education by 10 percent. Officials with the State Department of Education told members of a House budget panel on Monday that such a cut would lead to $$244 million less funding for education.
As lawmakers deal with a $$1.2 billion shortfall for the fiscal year that begins July 1, agencies are being asked to tell members how they would deal with a 10 percent cut.
Education Department Chief of Staff Lealon Taylor says a $$244 million cut equates to about 5,000 teacher salaries, although he acknowledged it's likely that fewer than 5,000 teachers will lose their jobs.
Taylor says on average, teacher salaries make up about 85 percent of a local district's budget.

I am beyond upset and it's due to one word: furlough. Yes, please kick me while I'm down. I am thankful for my right to vote and I hope everyone uses that right and makes informed decisions. That seems to be something people at 23rd and Lincoln and can't do.

I will be happy to express my educated views and voice my opinions granted to me by the constitution, unless that gets taken away next.

Look forward to state services being reduced to four days a week, but still expected to maintain the same level of service.

I see waste everyday in all areas and levels of the state. Yet, I feel that I am asked to take the worst for poor decisions that I didn't make. Please bring back common sense and personaly responsibilty. I cannot be the only one who feels this way, because I'm not the only one who pays taxes.

Beyond upset is how I feel. Jaded, uninformed or whatever you want to call it, I feel I can do better than those making decisions now. Don't excuse this as another rant. Remember all sides when casting that ballot. I know I will, and I will make it count. It seems to me, at this point that there will be no discusion and this is the chosen path. I say, explore your options and don't take the easy road at others' expense.

Oh and don't forget. Complete and mail in your census so funding can be established. It obviously means a lot. We wouldn't want our legislators to miss out on another self voted raise.

The weekend is finally here. Made it through a quick four days of work this week. And an artic cold front blast. CrAZy cold of 2010. Schools closed and I'm still not convinced they should have. New Years Weekend

Back to work tomorrow. The four day weekends are nice, but it makes Tuesday like a Monday. But Friday comes quicker!
Had a good weekend at the parents. Went to the casino for new years. Watched all the bowl games. Even though the Cowboys couldn't pull out the W, I still bleed Orange and I'm proud of my Alma mater. Go Pokes.
Got a new chair for the house, well, new to the house. Mom got new chairs for Christmas, so I got one of the old recliners. Works well after dad fixed it, and is much better than the old one we had before. It's in my bedroom now, for when you need to sit in there I guess.
Xena had her third litter of pups this weekend. Half boxer-half American bulldog equal some big puppies. 6 total and already looking for new homes :)
Looks like I'll be staying warm in the house this week in my cuddlee (aka knock-off snuggiee) since the highs on Thursday and Friday are in the teens. This winter weather blows and I'm ready for spring! Later,

Busy couple weekends coming up. Friends and friends of friends, that I'm claiming as friends too, are coming into town. A birthday, and of course a Halloween party. Don't know what I'm most excited about. Maybe all of it.
Today was an unproductive day that turned into something half way productive. Got all of my outside chores done. Tomorrow the focus is inside. I'm sure the fish would appreciate a clean tank too. I had started out spending the day watching tv and spending time on the computer. But got some motivation to go outside and get stuff done. Now it's time for bed. Later.

So I have pretty much confirmed I am lazy. I do not want to mow the yard and I haven't for a mintue. More than likely I will do it tomorrow. Just confirming the laziness.
This past weekend was another river trip. Not sure what happened to the camera but there are pics out there somewhere. Good ones I'm sure. I had a great time and no real injuries! It was good to see Diana and Caynen again too.
Still no official word on when I may move up to a different position at work. I have gotten the word that I am, just not when established yet. Hopefully that will change soon.
Since the last post a lot has happened and changed. Really makes you take a look at life and cherrish the times you have with your family. Know it really is the small things that end up meaning the most. Take it all in and live it with no regrets. I will and do miss my grandpa. Knowing that I have the memories and family, will help in time.

Congrats to Codi and David. Wedding was this Saturday the 20th. I had a great time, and I remember most of the night, always a plus. I didn't get pictures like I normally would as I had abandoned all my personal belongings. My mom ended up with my phone and keys. She was at home in Jones Sunday morning before I woke up at the hotel downtown before I realized. Thank goodness for friends who will drive you to Jones. Thanks Kendra. Sunday was recovery.

Let's see what's been going on. The rain finally stopped and the yard got mowed. Kendra and Jeremy came over the other night and we planned a camping trip for next weekend. Kendra and I celebrated cinco da mayo low key at her house. My girl Allison was voted off of American Idol and Lil Kim was voted off Dancing With The Stars. Two what I thought were unexpected results in reality tv this week.
It's mother's day weekend and I'm out with the family in Jones right now. Later today I'll be going out to Kendra's moms.
June will be a busy month. Camping, wedding and Chelsea coming for a visit. We're planning a party for that last weekend when she's here at the Early's. A party for Dino being smarter than us and only 1 year away from her masters. That is awesome!

Weekend

The weekend had it's moments. Friday started with whatnwas almost the end for one of dad's goats. The old billie had gotten out and so had the dogs. The three dogs had teamed up on the goat and nearly killed it by the time dad got home from work. The goat has survived and he was nursed back all weekend. Saturday it rained, again, but the family headed to the Oklahoma History Museum. It was the premier of the rock n roll music in Oklahoma exhibit. It was interesting and the rest of the museum is something to go and see too. Then we ate a small Itialian restaurant by the capitol. That was better than expected seeing as we were the only car in the parking lot. Sunday grandma and grandpa got back from their trip to Florida and we got caught up on all the happenings. Then out to dinner and some shopping then too. With the weekend spent in Jones all weekend, I had a lot to do around the house today. Dishes, vaccum, sweep, laundry, clean the fish tank and give the dogs a bath. I got all accomplished this evening and even had time to go to wal mart and get a few things until payday. It did help that I left work at 4 today. I had an email from my sup this morning that I had fifty mintues of comp time that I have to use before the pay period ends. I also found out today that last month I processed 82 applications all timely. Which apparently is a big feat, I just felt I was doing my job. As I wok for the state and monitary compensation is not going to happen, I get to wear jeans all month. It's a nice little bonus. We also got an email today from the employee association that the state is thinking about moving to biweekly pay. And as most any government work, it will take a an act of congress. The plan that is being proposed and expected the pass, will create a lag of 2 weeks in pay while they transition to the biweekly system. It's like starting a new job and having to wait on that first check. So they are now trying to find ways to avoid the lag. Cashing in vacation time, building up comp time to cash in or whatever, I just hope they give us plenty of notice. Or, better yet, figure out a way to avoid the lag that I don't have to mess with it and just happens. Well that's about all. Hopefully the rain will hold off for the rest of the week, the yard is looking a mess and needs to be mowed. Later,

Work, work, work

So, I've been working, what's new. I have been able to get really
caught up and do some extra work that I never get to for the last week
of the month. It makes me wonder a little if maybe I forgot some work.
I bet I will find out soon if I did.
Little Buddy is still on the
Europe trip and has planned a country out. I think she should have been
a travel agent. She should look into that. She's all about finding
things for us to do, and how to get around and where to stay. It will
be awesome.
I am over this swine flu panic BS. I mean really, I
heard on some news (that's a great citation I know, but it's the best I
have right now, I can't remember and I'm burnt) that the normal
seasonal flu kills nearly 1300 Americans every year. This swine flu has
so far killed 1 child in America. As tragic as even the one death is, I
think it is a little much to lead in the news with pandemic warnings.
Another news program (here I go again) said that the masks people are
buying like no other, are ineffective as the virus is smaller than what
the masks can protect against. The best advise is to just bedeli gent in washing your hands, practicing good hygiene
and covering your mouth when you cough. I also like how the President
started his press conference tonight with those same comments. It's
good for us all to have a reminder of the 1st grade, come on kiddos
wipe your snotty noses.
I am waiting to see what all this rain
does to the yard. I planted some grass seed, but I would imagine that
got washed away. I am hoping some stayed and will take off soon.
Although I will need to mow sooner than I would like with the rain.
Dina andCaynen are growing a garden with tomatoes and other veggies.
That is a good idea, I hope they can make it grow. I wish them luck, I
was glad I could get some seeds to sprout, they're going for a whole
garden!
My desk mate got some good news. She got a court date to
finalize the adoption process with her daughter. I am happy for her. I
hope it all goes well and she doesn't have any more surprises in the
process.

I'm really not wanting to do any work. I'm caught up. The only work that I have to do for today is for two months away. That would be getting really caught up and I'm not feeling like it.
It's raining again, go figure. At least these aren't severe. I wish a littl soap would fall on my truck and maybe wash it! That would be great! I bet my dogs are at home going crazy and ripping stuff up, also great, NOT! Hopefully they're sleeping through it actually.
Well the former owner of my house didn't come this weekend to get her stuff out of the attic. She was going out of town and with the rain she didn't make it. Oh well it's been this long I can wait.

I had another good weekend. Thursday Kendra and I went to the arts festival and a redhawks game. Both were a good time. The hawks even won! Friday we hung out on the patio and Codi and David came over after they had gone to the Lion King. They said that was amazing and had a good time. Saturday Kendra and I just hung out and really didn't get too much accomplished. I got the yard mowed and started on the laundry. Today, about the same finished up the laundry. I did plant some grass seed and debated all day today weather to water or not. I chose to not and luckily the rain did move in. Hopefully not too much rain though, it'll wash the seed away. The storms tonight will make good sleeping weather. A good nights sleep to get ready for the week. I hope Monday is great for everyone! Later,

The new calendar system at work, worked out well today. Of course as normal the day started out slow and then picked up after lunch. I really don't understand why people wait until late in the day to come into the office. To each their own I guess. It's almost a given to expect to work late when you're the worker of the day. [I still have my shirt that Hillary and I wore on the first day of being WOD. We ironed on a WOD logo on a polo as a joke. People were thinking they were real like a a new uniform or something.]
I did some more in the yard tonight. Killed off most of the crab grass and pulled it up. I still have more to go. You would think all the time I spend on the yard it would look awesome, but really it looks just as bad as ever. I feel better about it though and that's what counts right? I'm still hoping those seeds grow I planted last weekend. I think I really have a brown thumb and plants are not my forte. But I like doing it. At least acting like I know what I'm doing.
Brandy went on a Twitter spree tonight. Some co workers found us and so now we all have more followers. It's still interesting on there how random people will follow you. I don't think I'll really have any insight into life, but they still follow. Kind of like reading this blog I guess. No real point I normally just hash out my day and it's not like I'm breaking news headlines. But read on. And with that will say: Later,

New calendar, crab grass and OSU football

Today went ok. It was our first day with a new calendar walkin system and it went well for the first day. With my luck too, I'm worker of the day tomorrow. So hopefully Hillary and I will do ok with the system.
I got home and decided to start a war on the crab grass in my yard. I have learned my lesson and I hope I remember to spray the yard next year before it starts growing. I pulled some up and then decided spraying them will be easier. So we'll see if it worked tomorrow. If not, I'm going to have to get some other spray stuff. I have grass seed to plant. I want to get rid of the weeds first. The back yard is a whole other story. I should just start all over with it. Over the weekend I talked with dad about taking off the old side porch. I hope we can get to that soon. It's been a little over a year that I've been here and I still like it. That's good given my track record of complaining about everything.
I posted an article from oksate.com earlier about the preseason predicitions for the football team. I'm getting excited. I really should get tickets next year.

Cowboys Garnering Preseason Recognition

STILLWATER, Okla. Oklahoma State is well-represented on the NationalChamps.net Preseason All-America list, as running back Kendall Hunter, wide receiver Dez Bryant and left tackle Russell Okung all garnered preseason first-team All-America accolades, with kick returner Perrish Cox on the second team and quarterback Zac Robinson and linebacker Andre Sexton both securing honorable mention recognition.

Additionally, the site listed Bryant, Hunter and Robinson on its preseason list of top-15 Heisman Trophy candidates.

According to the NationalChamps.net list, Oklahoma State leads the nation with three first-team All-Americans on the offensive side of the ball and ties Florida for the national lead with three first-team All-Americans overall.

In a similar fashion, Oklahoma State dominates the preseason Heisman List, with Bryant leading the way ranked as the nation’s No. 4 Heisman candidate behind Florida’s Tim Tebow, Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford and Texas’ Colt McCoy. Hunter is ranked as the No. 8 candidate and Robinson comes in as the No. 12 candidate. No other school has three players listed among the top 15 list of preseason Heisman candidates.

Bryant was a consensus All-America honoree and the runner-up for the Biletnikoff Award in 2008 after ranking among the top three nationally in four different statistical categories. The Lufkin, Texas, native caught 87 passes for 1,480 yards and had 19 touchdown receptions. He flourished in the return game as well, securing Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year honors after returning 17 punts for 305 yards (17.9 avg.) with two touchdown returns.

A first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America in 2008, Hunter led the Big 12 and ranked seventh nationally with 119.6 rushing yards per game last year and boasts a career rushing average of 6.5 yards per carry. He was recognized as a second-team All-American by The Sporting News and a third-team All-American by the Associated Press in 2008.

Robinson was a finalist for the Manning Award and was a semifinalist for both the Maxwell Award and the Davey O’Brien Award in 2008 after completing 204-of-314 passes for 3,064 yards and 25 touchdowns. He added 562 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns to his stat line as well and has rushed for 1,409 yards the last two years.

Consistently ranked among the top-10 nationally in the preseason polls, the Cowboys open the season when they host Georgia at Boone Pickens Stadium on Sept. 5.

One fly

One dang fly. Don't you hate how one fly in the house will drive you insane?! I had the patio doors open Saturday when I was working in the yard and now there's one bothering me. I really should get a screen for those doors. Saturday, after I got done doing most of what I wanted before the little rain came through, I went out to the parents. I was exciting and was in bed by 9. Sunday we played some more on the wii and I have improved me fit age to my actual age. It still lies becase my back is hurting, but it thinks I have great posture. So, yea, I'll take the wii's answer.
Then we went to Shawnee and shopped around not finding anything. I did get a watering can for the flowers I planted. Of course we could have stayed in the city and bought a $3 watering can and saved the trip. But you never know we could have found something great. So, since we got back late I had to watch Celebrity Apprentice that I recorded. That show has me hooked. Next week looks like it's going to be a good one too. Tomorrow, I will really have to give the dogs a bath! Dask was all about the mud and jumping in it. Dude, he didn't care but was still getting in it. It was too late when I got home and they instantly were asleep. And I had to watch tv, good priorities I know.
Back to the salt mines tomorrow. I am excitited that the weather should be nice this week. Of course all the fun happens on the weekends, so I hope the weather is nice then and the week goes fast and smooth. I hope everyone has a great Monday! Later,

Just enough rain

I had plans to be productive today. I only got about half of things done outside that I wanted to do. Then it started raining so I came in and changed. Now it's stopped and all sunshine and nice weather. I could go back out but I've lost motivation now.
